Frequently Asked Questions

How often does TCC recruit?

We recruit at the beginning of every fall and spring academic semester. The number of open positions we have varies every semester based on project number.

Do I need to have a specific major?

No — our members have a variety of majors and backgrounds. We aim to recruit from a diverse pool of academic background and encourage everyone interested to apply.

Do I need to have a background in consulting?

No — we recommend you familiarize yourself with simple case interviews before you interview with us, but no prior work with a consultancy is required to join.

What are the benefits to joining TCC?

As a member of TCC, you have the opportunity to gain real-world consulting experience through working on projects with clients resulting in tangible deliverables. You also have the opportunity to build your network at Tufts and beyond.

What does the interview process look like?

TCC conducts one round of interviews each semester. An interview consists of two parts: a behavioral section and a simple case study. Many students have never done a case study interview before. Don't stress! You can see our tips for practicing case interviews on our recruiting page.

What types of clients will I get to work with?

We work with a variety of clients including tech start-ups, biotech companies, mission-driven nonprofits, and other Tufts-affiliated groups. If you interview, you can pick a preference for the types of companies you hope to work with.

Does it matter when I am graduating in order to apply?

No — our members consist of students from all grades. We prefer to have a diverse group of class years on our project teams.

How are TCC projects structured?

Each project has a corporate advisor (a Tufts alum who currently works in consulting), an executive board member, two project managers, and six analysts.
